Why do people have websites tht are empty?
Today I found righttovent.com. I went there. It has no content.
I looked up the owner of the site and found he had another site so I went there. ahaware.com
It has no content either!
Why do people do this?
I can understand if people make a site and spend some time building up the content before it goes online but to me a site with no content should not get picked up by Google.
I'm guessing here but in the above case what is the guy doing.. is he spending lots time and money advertising a site so Google will pick it up in hopes by the time there is actual content on it, he will get lots of hits?
I don't understand. Perhaps someone can help shed light in this for me.

Wordpress.org Deletes Post
Yesterday I made an amusing post about Matt Wallenweg and his Wordpress.com website.
I posted this same post with the same subject in the miscellaneous forum at wordpress.org
This post had a few replies and was beginning to get talked about.
Apparently someone didn't like it and I found today the post was removed! So much for free speech!
Whats funny about this is most of the time when a moderator of a forum edits or has to remove a post due to bad language or a terms of service violation, they almost always either edit the objectionable content and say, " Edited by Moderator" or send an email to the poster telling them why the post is getting deleted. None of these things happened.
On my profile at Wordpress.org there is a list of all the post I have made. That post doesn't show up at all anymore. It is like it never happened.
Do ya think it could be that someone is embarrassed about Matt's P changing behavior? (see post: Why Matt Wallenweg is a Butthole Surfer)

Why Matt Wullenweg is a Butthole Surfer
No,
He didn't play backup in the Band, although I personally wish he would have done so instead of getting involved with the World Wide Web.
So he has this website Wordpress.com Oh.. Excuse me it's WordPress.com with a Capitol P.
That's right, the guy is Sooo arrogant that he has written a script to go on everyone of his users websites and Change all the P's in the word WordPress to a Capitol P.
This may not be news to a lot of you.
Lets examine this.
As I understand it, WordPress (The Script from wordpress.org) is as different from WordPress (The web hosting site from wordpress.com) as Day and Night.
Wordpress the script was around long before wordpress the hosting site.
Wikipedia has this to say.."WordPress is the official successor of b2\cafelog which was developed by Michel Valdrigh"
Matt knew about and used b2/cafelog before it ever became WordPress.
Wikipedia has this to say, "In June 2002 Mullenweg started using the b2/cafelog blogging software to complement the photos he was taking on a trip to Washington D.C."
After Valdrigh stopped working on his b2/cafelog script, Matt picked it up to make it more up to date. He was joined by others on the project. He may have been responsible for giving WordPress it' name in it's current incarnation, but he was by no means the originator of it.
What Matt did was make a hosting service where he could allow for the hosting of websites that uses the wordpress script.
Matt decided to trademark the name of his hosting company.
As his trademark goes the name should be correctly spelled as WordPress - with a capitol P.
All that may be fine and well but Bloggers Beware. Read the Terms of Service very Carefully.
Anytime you use any free hosting service all of your content can be subject to ownership and therefore Changed by the hosting company.
You think your content is yours? You think you can copyright your content? Think again! By virtue of hosting it on a free service, the content becomes the property of said service and the agreement you made with them when you signed up SUPERSEDES any notices of copyright you claim to have to your content on your own blog or website!
This is why Matt can get away with changing all the P's on all the users pages.
Now, Let's say I have a blog on Matt's service and I talk about My new gizmo I have created called Wordpress.
Wordpress (with a lowercase P) is a compression tool for Microsoft Word documents. Wordpress the compression tool is trademarked to Me, John Phoenix.
Now if his P changing script comes to my blog and changes my lowercase P to an uppercase P, he better run and find shelter 'Cus I'm coming after him with both barrels loaded!
You better believe It !

My Pet Peeves
Here are a few of my pet peeves.
1. Trial versions are Not free!
Many times when looking for free software on the web you will search Google and see links to Free programs, only to discover when you get to that link the software in question is a Trial version.
Most of these idiot software companies claim that it really is free because they don't charge you for downloading the file even though it is a trail version! This is misleading and should be fraud punishable by Law.
2. When you open HELP in a program expecting a help file and you only find a link to Online help file!
This sucks! I need help sometimes when I can't be connected to the web. All software developers should make the help files either built in to the program or as a downloadable file/addon for the product.

I signed up for an AdSense account ( I created a NEW account, I didn't know I could have used the same Google info I use here on blogspot, This was not clear to me when I first had the option to sign in to Adsense or create a new account) and got my email verification notice. The email said, after clicking on the verification link, I would be directed to a form to confirm my email and to provide more information. After which, AdSense would review my account and if approved, then I would start to see the AdSense show up on my blog.
Well, I clicked the link and it took me here:

There is No form to fill out like the email said!
So, I went in search of contacting AdSense and or Google, cus Google owns AdSense anyway. On the AdSense website, they send me to their help center which has no topic for " AdSense vericaction form not showing up" or anything like that.
Then I find the place to contact them IF and Only IF the hep center can't help.
The pages take you through some trouble shooter made up of questions that have radio buttons for you to click on... (Still no email or contact form, which is what I want) Fianily I get this message:
"Our records show that you started an application through one of our partner websites, but haven´t completed it yet.
Before we can serve targeted Google ads to your pages, you'll need to verify your email address, grant the partner website access to your account, and complete the AdSense application. You'll find specific instructions for doing so in the confirmation email message sent to you when you first signed up. The subject line of the message is "Google AdSense Verification." Locate that message and click the link in that email."
DOH ! Been there.. Done that!
I would be happy to complete the form.. Just Gimmie the Damn Thing!

Now, Google, with all it's money is TOO CHEAP to employ enough people to answer emails, so there is no email contact link for the people at AdSense. Thus, I arrive here.
If I try to re sign up for AdSense using my Google information, it wont let me cus it thinks i'm already signed up and it fusses at me to complete a form I don't apparently have access to....
At this point I'm thinking AdSense should toss me a few bucks just for the time and trouble they have caused me.
This is funny. This is tragic, This is tragicly funny!
O.k. now Google people. I'm waiting, please solve my problem
UPDATE
I found out what was wrong with the AdSense. The form wouldn't show up if opened in FireFox
It only works with Internet Explorer.
I tried the link in IE just on a whim not really expecting it to work. I am shocked!
I thought everyone on the Planet had fixed their code to work with FF by now.
After all, it's 2009 for crying out loud! Geez.. Firefox is fast becoming the #1 web browser on Earth surpassing IE like a speeding train.
AdSense.. get with the Program!!
Still, their Tech Support options really suck.
Now, time to play the hero. I found there were tons of people on the AdSense forum that has the same problem and No One has given any answers to the posters. No wonder.. if most people are using FireFox they won't see the form either. Im gonna tell em :-)
